MO.S.E.’ PROJECT

From December 2014 to 2020, Prof. Eng. Francesco Ossola is Administrator for the extraordinary and temporary management of the Venezia Nuova Consortium, concessionaire of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – Venice Water Authority, for the completion and start-up of the management of the works aimed at to safeguard the Venice Lagoon, its inhabitants and the priceless historical, artistic and environmental heritage.

The MOSE (Experimental Electromechanical Module) is a project aimed at protecting the city of Venice, Italy, and the Venice Lagoon from flooding. The project is an integrated system consisting of rows of mobile gates installed in three port inlets which are capable of temporarily isolating the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea during high tides, together with other measures such as coastal reinforcement, the raising of docks and paving and improvement of the lagoon.
